Lakes and Streams
Water locations for the Eastern Sierra Nevada.
Fish Slough Pond
Located six miles northeast of Bishop, west of Highway 6. Here you can catch bass and catfish. Nightcrawlers seem to work best and catch your catfish at night using stinkbait.
Location
Owens River - Big Pine
Located east of Big Pine, take the Highway 168 turnoff from Highway 395 to the Owens River. This is a good area for catching rainbow and German brown trout, as well as catfish and bass during the summer months.
There are numerous dirt roads leading to someone's 'secret' fishing hole.
Location
Red Mountain Creek
Located just south of Tinemaha Creek, this little stream gets little traffic, and in its pools you will find trout that have traveled down from the high country. Access is via a number of dirt roads leading out from Tinemaha and Taboose Creek Campgrounds.
Location
Tinemaha Creek
Located south of Big Pine and northwest of the Poverty Hills. The creek is planted weekly with rainbow trout and provides the angler with good fishing. The plants are made at both campgrounds.
Location
Owens River - Tinemaha Reservoir
Located south of Big Pine, east of the Poverty Hills, turn off Highway 395 east at the Wildlife Vista Point until you reach the Owens River.
The many roads in this region lead to a number of fishing holes. This area also is noted for its great catfishing (especially with spoiled liver or other stinkbaits). There are plenty of undeveloped campsites along the river.
